The collection took on a life of its own, with various people offering advice on content, till today what is available on this website is only a small fraction of a much larger collection. The majority of the images were collected while studying with ACICIS for a year at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta during 2002, and for another year at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) in 2006. While at UMM I did field research on tourist visitor levels initially at Candi Singosari near Malang and then at all archaelogical sites in East Java. It is my hope to build an ever-expanding online collection of low resolution images of Indonesia that is freely available to students and teachers around the world. New images will be from my own photos (see some examples from 2006), from the large number of images already collected in Indonesia, and also images submitted by other interested people. Currently this website receives 100+ visitors per day, with over 5% of visitors staying for longer than 30 minutes. It is particularly satisfying to know that since the site was first launched on the 1st May 2003 over half the visitors have been from Indonesia. Salam David Armstrong May 2007
