Paintings of Miguel Covarrubias

Covarrubias was born in Mexico City in 1904 into a distinguished Mexican family. His father was a cabinet minister. He was a famous artist, and his drawings appeared in many magazines including Vanity Fair, New Yorker and Vogue. After travelling extensively he made his first trip to Bali in 1930. He was fascinated by the island and stayed for 9 months. He returned again in 1932/33 with his wife Rose, and published a book on his experiences which included many paintings and drawings.
